After a late (early) arrival at the farm Saturday night, and a bit of a rest, we had a hearty brunch while briefly celebrating Derek's (37th) birthday and Father's Day with my parents. Oscar was around for some of the party, but he actually spent most of the time under the couch downstairs .. still warming up to the strange new place!
We hit the road about 2pm, heading straight west on the Eton Road. We stopped quickly in Killarney for a quick car wash, then continued on our way. We followed #3 to Deloraine and then north to #2, which then followed straight into Saskatchewan.
We stopped for fuel in Stoughton, SK and decided to stop for a bite to eat. We ate at George's Family Restaurant - and the food was excellent! Derek had a chicken cordon bleu and I had an 8 oz steak. This was Derek's birthday supper, so nice that it turned out to be very good.
We continued on our way to Weyburn, and then on our way to Moose Jaw, we somehow made a wrong move and ended up straight into Regina! So a bit further, but same end result ! It was about 10pm (SK time - no daylight savings) by the time we got to Moose Jaw, and we decided to drive another 1-1/2 hours to Swift Currant. We figured this would put us in good shape for Monday morning.
We checked a couple hotels that were going to be $90 (with pool) and then settled on the EconoLodge for $65 - figured we could save $30 and we were primarily interested in a good sleep anyway.
It rained through the night - rained through parts of Saskatchewan as we were driving through in the afternoon as well.
Anyway - time to get ready for a new day of driving! The plan is to reach Banff!
