We woke to the sound of kids (Garrett and Danica) playing. They were up before 8am, and we could hear them downstairs. When we finally got up, we had some grapefruit and juice.
The day turned out to be a nice relaxing day - nice to not have hit the road for a day!
We had thought we might make it to downtown Vancouver - see Stanley Park, Gastown, etc - but we ended up staying in Surrey/White Rock instead.
Tracy packed up the kids and we went to White Rock beach ... and saw the White Rock! We also saw the shoreline and a train go by! Garrett had fun rolling down the hill with the other kids, and trying to climb the big White Rock. Danica was quite interested in the dead something (or was it seaweed? either way it was gross!) that had been washed up. The beach wasn't really sandy - more mucky than anything.
We stopped for lunch only the beach here - we took the patio (that was empty at the time) as Tracy figured that would be the least trouble to others. Oddly, the patio filled up after we got there! The day warmed up quite nicely - so the patio was a good choice!
Before these stops, we had dropped the car of at the Ford dealership (Ocean Park) - there had been a noise coming from the tires - on/off for several days - and Derek was concerned. Figured it best to get it checked out before we go further on our adventures.
Back at the house in the afternoon, Tracy took the opportunity head out to the grocery store while Derek and I watched the kids. With Danica having a nap - this meant we really only had to entertain Garrett. Derek took this opportunity to sneak upstairs for a quick nap himself. Playing cars is sure tough work!
We hadn't heard from the Ford dealership and so we decided to pick up the car before they closed - this way Derek could maybe take the wheel off himself (we were thinking there was probably just a stone in there). Regardless, we were thinking it nicer to have the car back - if they weren't going to have a chance to look at it.
So we went back at 5:30 .. and they had finished and it was ready to go! Turns out there was no stone - but something to do with the hubcap. 7 vs 9 spokes or something? Anyway, they took the hubcap off and added some foam. And it no longer made the noise (and still hasn't). We think maybe they even did all 4. All this for $78 bucks. Thankfully this went under warranty. $78 bucks! Sigh..
Uncle Gaynor and Allison came over for dinner (or supper - we had the whole discussion) that night - we had shrimp and bbq'd steaks with potatoes and caesar salad. Very good meal!
We visited a while and watched Mater and the Ghost Light a few times (again - we were watching it several times in the afternoon with Garrett too!). This is a 7 minute clip at the end of the Cars movie, and Garrett loves it. Laughs in the same spots every time! It is quite cute =)
Tracy went to sleep shortly after the kids were to bed and Uncle Gaynor and Allison had left. Derek and I stayed up to watch Studio 60.. and then Derek flipped channels a bit longer.
Again another busy day (and we didn't even drive anywhere!)
