Monday - good driving day!

Monday we left Swift Currant and made it to Banff by end of day.

It was cold in Swift Currant when we got up. We got up pretty quickly and hurried to get out of our motel .. it was actually called Caravel motel, not an EconoLodge. But much the same idea anyway. It was a place to sleep .. not much else!

We stopped at Timmie's just down the service road .. a long line .. Derek got chatting and making friends with everyone in line!

Finally on our way, we made tracks to the SK/AB border. Quick stop at the Welcome Centre. We made a bit of a detour up to the Dinosaur Provincial Park. Saw some amazing scenery, and our new camera has an incredible zoom!

Back on our way, we arrived in Calgary by around supper time. We went straight to the Calgary Tower. $27 for 2 people, but no lines or anything. The view was nice .. pretty neat to be so far above. I stood out on the Glass Floor .. right above the street. Derek just took pictures of this - too much for him, being afraid of heights like he is!

Back on the ground, we spent a bit of time wandering around downtown, looking for a cowboy hat for Derek, but most shops were closed.

We headed out of Calgary, no time to stop at the Olympic Park (another trip!) and headed for Banff.

Arriving in Banff, we went straight to our campsite - Two Jack Lakeside - and they still had room! We set up our tent just as it was getting dark!

We had a quick drive into town - looking for matches and wireless internet - only successful on the matches!

We tried to have a fire, but to no avail - most the wood was damp, and not much kindling available. That was too bad, as it was quite chilly and we were looking forward to it to be able to warm up!

Even the tent was cold .. slept with 2 pairs of socks (including my warmest socks) on and my feet were still cold!
