Tuesday June 26th 2007 - A brief tour of Seattle and then to the US Pacific Coast!

Tuesday we were up after a really good sleep - nice to be well-rested again!

We packed up and left Brent's and headed for the Space Needle - we pretty much just found it by looking up! Nearby we stumbled across a restaurant called Zeek's Pizza - so that seemed to be a must! Derek already has dreams of his own spin-off ... Deek's Pizza. We had their John Candy pizza - the food was good.

The Space Needle is in a block called Seattle Center - where there are several attractions - including the Pacific Science Center, the Experience Music Project, The Children's Museum, a terminal for the monorail, a small amusement park, an arena and stadium, the Marion Oliver McCaw hall .. and probabably more.

Seattle is huge! There are so many levels in a web of streets and freeways .. it's crazy!

We left Seattle by mid afternoon - probably right about when rush hour would be starting, but it wasn't too hard leaving the city - just get onto the interstate and way you go .. till you hit the congestion!

We made a stop in Olympia - the capital city of Washington, and saw the State and Federal Buildings. We had a bite to eat at Jack in the Box - just some fast food burgers, and back on the road. I had a toasted chicken tomato ciabatta sandwich - very tasty! Derek tried there standard feature - Big Jack (?). I think he enjoyed his first Jack in the Box experience - he's already got big ideas for his own spin-off ... Deek in the Box!

We continued heading west to Montesano, then south to Raymond, and then along the Willapa Bay to Seaview. Along the way, we stopped at Munson Falls, near Tillamook. It is the highest waterfall in the Coast Range, dropping 266 feet over rugged cliffs.

Derek had previously marked Ocean Park as an potential stop, but we decided to stay at the Rodeway Inn & Suites in Long Beach, just north of Seaside. Long Beach is at the bottom of long narrow peninsula jutting northward. (Ocean Park is just further up.)

The hotel room was really nice - it even had a chimenea with a firelog to burn! How very neat!

We could hear the waves of the Pacific Ocean - but did not walk out as the road was quite dark - and we figured we could wait till morning!

We did take a quick walk along the main street - window shopped in a few and planned for the next day!
