Tuesday

I woke up around 9:30, but went back to bed just because I was still so cold! Then I didn't wake up till 11:00! Check-out time! Yikes!

So we were up with a start and began dismantling the tent and packing sleeping bags, etc. I was looking forward to a shower, but alas, we had forgotten to bring towels. Crap!

I took a quick walk down to the lake (Two Jack Lake) and took some pictures.

We were set to go by about noon, which wasn't a problem. It was still quite chilly when we were leaving the campground and heading into town.

In the town of Banff, we parked the car near Banff Avenue and then walked the street. They were doing construction on this street, so it was quite a mess!

Derek found a coin set with Oilers log on the quarter - he had to have this!

We stopped for lunch at Wild Bill's Saloon. We sat on the patio, which was nice but maybe not the best choice because we were still chilled from the night before! I had BBQ beef on a bun w/ caesar salad and Derek had a steak sandwich with mashed potatoes. Both were very good!

We continued walking along Banff Avenue - I picked up a necklace and bracelet, some postcards and pins, some Rocky Mountain soap and a few miscellaneous other things. Derek found a cowboy hat - just the type he was looking for in Calgary.

Finally - enough shopping - we made a stop at Bow Falls. We walked a short ways up the hill .. got some pictures of the falls, and of the Fairmont Hotel - Banff.

We took a quick drive up Bow Drive (?) and saw the golf course -- also very nice! And probably expensive!

We visited the Upper Hot Springs - the water was 39 degrees .. very nice and warm!

We left Banff around suppertime and headed up the highway.

We made a quick stop at Lake Louise.

We continued on - stopping along the highway at the Spiral Tunnels. Lots of history here, and I was able to zoom in on the tracks with my new camera!

We stopped in Golden at Timmies - almost tipped the car making the turn when Derek saw it at the last second .. and continued on our way to Glacier National Park. The hotel at Roger's Pass was going to be $100 ($125 reg). We stopped at Iss... campground - had thought we might camp there .. but the park isn't open for another week. Oh well. Probably too cold anyway.

We continued on our way to Revelstoke - finding a great place at Super 8 - $88 with a pool, hot tub, warm cozy bed, wireless internet, nice room, Timmies next door and Denny's (24 hours) across the street! Perfect!
