Friday morning we had a bit of time to play cars with Garrett before we had to go. We had egg sandwiches for breakfast and checked the ferry times. They were leaving every hour and we were only 15 minutes away from Tsawwassen so we weren’t too worried about catching one.
We left Tracy’s around 11:30. When we were approaching the ferry terminal, the sign was flashing saying the 12pm ferry was full and the 1pm ferry was 50% full. We got our tickets and parked in line, then had a chance to run inside and check out the gift shops and buy some gelato. Mmm!
The ferry ride was about an hour and a half. I spent most the time wandering around – in and out, to the front and back. The ferry is huge! Derek and I checked out the gift shop (these turn up everywhere we go…) and even saw some whales (sort of) as we went through the islands. Derek even took the opportunity to see some sheep for a bit as well!
Arriving on Vancouver Island, we cruised down Hwy 17 to Victoria. We were now immediately on a bit of a schedule – had to get to town, check-in and hook up with the wedding people and festivities.
Our hotel – Traveller’s Inn was pretty basic but alright – not bad for $60/night … for a place to sleep. There was a small pool, but we never even had a chance to check it out – in the 3 days. The worst part was that there was no internet in the rooms. They had internet – but only in the lobby big enough to hold 3 people, and it was a computer. Any time I went down, it seemed that someone else would come along shortly after to use the internet, or the guy working would be standing at the desk, right behind me. Not as fun playing on the computer with someone watching!
We went to Jeff’s parents – the Lowes’ – for dinner. His mom (and aunts?) had prepared a bunch of salads and chicken – everything was delicious – especially the coleslaw with slices of apple in it.
After dinner the boys were heading out for a night on the town – so first they dropped me off at Candace’s parents – the Griers’, where I hooked up with the other girls for the stagette.
Candace's sisters dressed her up in a crazy outfit prior to heading out, and here mom dropped a bunch of us off at the bar. Not sure which bar this was - but it was in her parents area of the city. There was a bar and a night club downstairs.
We all had a couple drinks upsatirs then moved out and down to ensure we got into the night club before a line formed. We were downstairs and waiting for the dance floor to open - when it started, the one wall lifted and the crowd moved onto the dance floor. We had a great time!
After the partying, I was dropped off at Jeff's parents with Candace and Aimee - but I needed to take a cab home from there. Jeff's dad was up and tried to call one for me - but when he found out it'd be over an hour to an hour and a half, he offered to drive me home the the hotel. I didn't expect that, but it was nice - because it sure was nice when my head hit my pillow!
Derek rolled in some time after I had gotten back - mid early morning!
