This morning we were up in decent time - and went to Denny's for breakfast with Kurt and Sandra. We had been to a Denny's in Revelstoke, and were quite impressed - Denny's is so good! Where was it yesterday?
I had tried again to get a hold of Morgan - and she called back this morning. Turned out she had some free time this morning, so she met us at Denny's as well! This was really great – I hadn’t seen her for probably over 2 years now!
We had a good visit over breakfast, then afterward, Morgan took Kurt, Sandra and I on a quick tour of Victoria. Derek had to pass because he needed to have a bit of a rest to ensure he’d look good for wedding pictures in the afternoon and not fall asleep standing up at the ceremony or something!
Morgan took us by the place where she works, which was just down the street from our hotel and Denny’s. There was a walking bridge which provided a nice view of downtown, across the Gorge Waterway and Upper Harbour. We then moved along to another location to view the Harbour. We drove downtown and looked out over the Inner Harbour .. standing by the Empress Hotel and the Legislative Building. We then drove around to Ogden Point, and walked out along the breakwater near the Cruise Ship Terminal. There was a little lighthouse at the end.
From here we realized it was time to head back to the hotel (after picking up Kurt and Sandra's rental car from Denny's) and get ready for the wedding. We were back to the hotel by 2pm.
The wedding was at 4pm at Olympic View Golf Course, on Latoria Road in the Metchosin area. The ceremony was on practice putting green, and the reception in the clubhouse. It was a very nice location .. beautiful scenery.
Derek and Lance were standing up with Jeff - they played rock, paper, scissors for best man on Friday at the rehearsal - Lance won (or lost?!). Anyway, they both said a few words. Candace had her friends Aimee and Amy standing up with her.
The dinner was delicious - they had everything! Roast beef, fish, chicken breasts, salads, potatoes, etc .. it was a buffet style dinner - for dessert, there was a variety of cheesecakes and cakes. Very yummy!
There were about 80-90 guests at the wedding - a nice size. Derek and I even tried our new moves [from our dance lessons], which was good for a few laughs - mostly Lance, as he took pictures of us mostly looking silly!
After the reception, we piled into cars that had been arranged between Candace and Jeff's families. Everyone left caught rides back to Candace's parents, where we hung around in their garage for an hour or so. I spent most the time there talking with Dave and Kelly - they live in Victoria now, but he is from Thompson, and she is actually from Russell.
After a while, her mom sent everyone on their way - and Kurt, Sandra, Derek and I got a ride back to Jeff's parent's, where I was able to get my car - and I drove Kurt, Sandra and myself back to the hotel. Derek decided to stay at Jeff's and hang out with his friends a bit longer, then caught a ride back with his friend Phil.
During our visit this morning, Morgan had expressed interest in tagging along with us to Seattle - she looked into it and figured she could make this happen - so going to sleep, I was expecting to hook up with Morgan again in the morning - and take the ferry over to Anacortes, WA. How exciting - the spontaneity of it all!
